There are so many usages for these types of villas. First, you have the obvious case of an extended family with more than two children. A great way to spend time together, but have privacy when needed is by getting a bigger villa, maybe even with a living room for game nights and fun time. Please note that if the children are rather small, most resorts are not allowing them in overwater villas for safety reasons, so you’ll have to check out the 4 bedroom beach villas below.
A different reason why you might want a 4-bedroom bungalow in the Maldives would be if traveling with the extended family. Take your children and your parents on your next trip and you’ll have the time of your life. Grandparents can give you a hand with the little ones, children will adore everything in the Maldives, and you’ll have a much-needed break. Plus, time spent together with the multi-generational family will be a treasured memory.
Another great use for a big water villa on this paradise island group would be for four couples traveling together. You can spend as much or as little time together as you’d like, and you’ll get to enjoy the privacy of a secluded villa but the lively feeling of getting together with friends. As you don’t have any children with you, 4-bedroom overwater villas in the Maldives are some of the best solutions for this case.

And last, but not least, you have the case of just a group of friends wanting to enjoy a trip to an exotic paradise. The group can be a mix of couples and singles, or even full of singles. As long as the sleeping arrangements are ok for everyone, this is a great scenario that can work like a charm.
Typical services that are offered to people that get bigger accommodation options here are specialized spa services right under the roof, pools that start right from the living room, slides that end in the Indian Ocean, meals served straight to your dining room, and concierge service available 24/7. Some of the most luxurious ones even have glass floors, a private gym option, personal libraries, and walk-in closets. If you plan everything carefully, you don’t even need to leave the building for the duration of your stay there.
A few tips to limit your expenses
If you’re thinking of getting a four-bedroom villa here, I assume the price is not an issue. Still, why spend more than you have to, if given the choice? So, let’s check a few tips to maybe diminish that hefty bill you’ll get at the end of your trip.
For a trip as expensive as this one, using a cashback app like WayAway Plus is a great option. You will probably make some money back right from the flights, and there’s quite a big chance that you’re going to get more than it costs very quickly.
I made a rough simulation with a return flight from San Francisco to Male and 7 nights at one of the cheapest resorts on the list, and you get the following cashback: about $150 for the accommodation and around $30 for the flights. This already covers the cost of WayAway Plus for a year, and I’m sure you can use it for other trips as well.
Always compare meal plans when it comes to the Maldives. As each island is a resort, you cannot really go to a cheap restaurant. You either buy their meal plans or eat a la carte, but this is rarely an affordable option. So prioritize offers that include at least breakfast and dinner, if you want a better deal.
Breakfast and dinner are quite enough if you’re not a foodie. You can have a later breakfast and an early dinner and you won’t feel the need for lunch, especially if you’re more eager to go on activities than to just eat. If you drink alcohol daily though, look into an all-inclusive package as it will be the best value for you.
As the best season to visit the Maldives is between November and March, try to avoid the entire month of December and the 14th of February as well. The prices around these dates can increase exponentially and there’s a slim chance you’ll find what you wish for.
If you want to save even further, you can even visit the Maldives off-season or during the shoulder season. One of the locals has told me that a good off-season month to visit is July, but make this decision with the full understanding that you might get rainy days on your trip as well.
If you only want to check a water suite for an Instagram post or you really have limited resources, you can choose a standard room for most of your trip and stay in an overwater bungalow for one or two nights only. In the end, the sea is the same, no matter where you sleep at night.
And last, but not least, you can check out the rest of my tips on traveling on a budget. This short and sweet eBook will tell you everything you need to know to spend less while traveling, allowing you to go on multiple trips without increasing your budget.

Before we dive in (see what I did there?), I want to specify that I have checked only the options available on Booking, and I cannot possibly include any prices in the post, as this will differ from one day to the other. You will have to use the provided buttons to get real prices for your estimated time. I also advise you to check the prices on Agoda as well, as they tend to have better prices for all destinations in Asia, in my experience.
My top pick? It’s really hard to pick just one, as they’re all gorgeous! If you’re looking for more options, Amilla Maldives Resort & Residences seems like the best option for you, as it has the most options, including some bungalows with more than 4 bedrooms. The highest review score goes to Gili Lankanfushi Maldives with a whopping 9.6, so check it out as well if you’re aiming for a truly unique experience.
So, without further ado, let’s check out the best 4-bedroom villas in the Maldives!
